From the Logo is enjoying the NBA offseason and hopes you are too (but wow, are the Nets assembling all the Infinity Stones.) As readers of this space know, I draw on Ben Falk’s Cleaning the Glass heavily. The site combines quality data with a user-friendly interface. A random example: Falk adjusts the data for “garbage time” and allows users to benchmark numbers against relevant comparison groups (how does Russell Westbrook’s mid-range prowess compare to other high-usage guards? Where does the most frequently played five-man Clippers unit rank in terms of its turnover rate?)
As easy as CTG is to navigate, learning how to use the site can take some time. I am excited to announce that, in partnership with Ben Falk, I’m trying to help with that! In the coming weeks, we will be releasing a series of short guides to using Cleaning the Glass. I find that guides work best in the context of use cases, so to that effect, each guide will take a real NBA question that I and others have had, and attempt an answer using data from Cleaning the Glass. Any time a stat is cited, video clips will illustrate how to find the relevant stat on CTG.
The first piece, breaking down the Sacramento Kings, is now live. Follow Ben, CTG, or me on Twitter to get notified as new articles are released. I will also update this post with a link as each piece goes live. As always, feedback and thoughts welcome!
